A Six-Week Online Course for Climate Professionals

How do you turn corporate climate ambition into credible, effective action? 

This six-week online course, Navigating Corporate Engagement in Carbon Markets, brings together private sector decision-makers to explore the business case for carbon credits, credit quality and integrity, and strategic guidance for due diligence, partnerships, and risk mitigation. 

Through expert-led discussion sessions, recorded video lectures, and peer exchange, participants will build knowledge and networks to confidently navigate the evolving landscape of corporate engagement in carbon markets and learn from real-world successes and pitfalls.

Who Should Apply?

The course is designed for current or aspiring corporate actors, or consultants to the private sector, facing tough questions:
  • When and why should my company prioritize nature-based climate solutions compared with technological solutions?
  • How to recognize high integrity credits for positive social and environmental impacts?
  • What can we do to address and avoid reputational and strategic risks?

This course aims to support those navigating these decisions—moving climate strategies forward, navigating risk, and figuring out how investments in nature-based carbon credits fit into company goals.

Course Structure

The course format applies ELTI’s “high-touch” online learning approach, developed for working professionals. The course is delivered in six thematic modules, each lasting one week. 

Each module includes: 
  • Self-paced videos: Weekly themes, related decision-making frameworks, and case studies are synthesized in recorded videos, developed specifically for a corporate audience. You can access online materials at any time to balance your personal commitments and careers. 
  • Resources: Weekly videos are complemented with a selected compilation of readings, media, and other resources providing up to date guidance.  
  • Live Discussions: Weekly live-sessions provide the opportunity to engage with course experts and peers to raise emergent questions, exchange ideas, and apply learnings. 
  • Learning Application: Participants will apply course learnings through reflective and applied exercises, including the development of a “pitch deck” rooted in their unique context and company goals. The course will close with participant presentations of their pitch deck with guidance from a panel of experts and peers.

About YCNCC:

The Yale Center for Natural Carbon Capture (YCNCC) is a research center at Yale University established to advance fundamental and applied science relating to how natural Earth systems can be enhanced to create effective, safe, and scalable methods to reduce greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere while offering meaningful ecological and social co-benefits.

Founded in 2021 with a transformative gift from FedEx, and part of Yale’s Planetary Solutions Project, the YCNCC bridges disciplines and spans departments and schools at Yale to catalyze and support innovative research to advance natural climate solutions. The Center funds research projects, workshops, and fellowships at the University, and it invests in outreach and training the next generation of scientists and practitioners. These activities are centered around three focus areas: Ecosystem Capture, Geological & Ocean Capture, and Industrial Carbon Utilization. Continued fundraising efforts seek to secure support for the Center’s work well into the future.
