Dr. Daniel Ortega Pacheco is the Director of BIOCARBON. Daniel is the Expert Panel Co-chair at the Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Markets. He currently leads the Executive Secretariat of the Partnership for Agricultural Carbon hosted at Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture and supported by the Voluntary Carbon Market Integrity Initiative (VCMI). He has over 20 years of experience in climate change diplomacy, including driving multilateral environmental agreements and carbon market regulation. During COP21 in Paris, he served as Minister of the Environment of Ecuador and was entrusted with Co-Chair of the REDD+ Ministerial negotiations by the French Presidency. He has an MSc in Agricultural Economics from Michigan State University and holds a PhD in Public Policy and Management from The Ohio State University.
