Dr. Spencer Meyer is the Chief Ratings Officer for BeZero Carbon, a global ratings agency for the voluntary carbon market. BeZero Carbon provides independent assessments of carbon credits and risk tools to equip world-leading organizations with the knowledge, tools, and confidence to make better climate decisions. Spencer is a forester and landscape ecologist with over 20 years of experience working collaboratively with public and private sector partners to solve natural resource challenges. Before joining BeZero Carbon, Spencer was the head of science at NCX, a climate tech pioneer in the voluntary carbon market, where he led carbon markets, biodiversity, and co-benefits research. Spencer previously worked at the Highstead Foundation, Yale School of the Environment, The Nature Conservancy, Harvard Forest, and the University of Maine. He is a co-founder of Sebago Clean Waters, an advisor to conservation NGOs and private foundations, and a frequent speaker on forest management, natural climate solutions, and conservation finance. Spencer earned his A.B. from Dartmouth College and his M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Maine.
